The barn is in a superb rural situation. To the north there is a view of the full length of "Lac d'Astarac". To the east is a wooded hillside teaming with bird life and to the south a dramatic view of the Pyrenees. In the high summer they are often obscured by a heat haze, but can sometimes be seen in the early morning. Snowy peaks catching the rising sun even in July.
There are numerous picturesque villages in the area which are well worth visiting, especially when there is a local market or brochante on. There is a constant stream of festivals during the summer, for jazz, Latin, dance etc. which can be great fun.
A complete change of culture is only an hour and a quarter away in Spain, and an hour away in the same direction are the wonderful Pyrenees. Some ski lifts are still operated in the summer, so one can easily hike in the high mountains.
